barbara, It is relatively easy to take several measurements and carefully drill straight through the back of the piano, to meet the pin from behind. Then drive the pin out from the back. Use a slightly larger drill bit than the pin for any slight mis-alignment. The trick is in accurate measurement, which can be aided by the use of a carpenters square to transfer the position of the pin over the top of the piano and down to the back of the pinblock. Try it. It can be a fun exercise, and satisfying.
