I have been using this technique for 3 years and still have some of
the pianos that I cleaned with scrubbing bubbles. There is no ill
effect on the strings. I think that anything that would cause rust
would do it quite quickly on a clean string. Besides, the Metro
vac/blower is very powerful and will virtually blow the surfaces dry.
There is almost no residue left behind.

Cleaning between the pins is really nice using this procedure. The
blower gets all the dirt and foam out and onto the rag very nicely.

You still haven't convinced of the long term affect of the scrubbing bubbles
on the strings. There are plenty of cleansers out there to do the heavy duty
cleaning. The trick is finding chemicals which will not affect the
durability of the string, nor cause rusting of any sort.  Getting the
bubbling solution between the tuning pins area is a very tricky procedure in
that absolute cleanup is vital.
