[pianotech] OT - Susan, Geology & Cutting Cable - was: cutting steel

No sweat with the micro-type - two easy keystrokes and it becomes BIG on my screen!

Good deal with the cable thing. We also unplugged about five years ago (maybe more???). One of the best things we've ever done - especially around election time! I hear talk and read articles about some of these campaign ads, but I haven't had to endure a single one of them - which suits me just FINE!

Installed an outdoor huge antenna for over-air stations some years ago, but it never really worked because my trees would hit it and it would spin it into a non-receiving direction. And now it is so broken up I don't think it would receive anything even if it were pointed in the right direction. BUT, I did install a really good outdoor directional antenna a few weeks ago and can get a whole bunch of stations, including PBS! I'm looking forward to catching a few of their good programs - even though, of course, they are a socialist organization...... ;-)

I just asked about geology because not many folks are even aware that the three words "tectonic plate subduction" can be strung together in any meaningful way. I have an MS in Hydrogeology and was a Professional Geologist in Florida in another life...... (well, before I got my life straight and started working on pianos anyway).

Thanks for the verbal exchange. :-)
