Stan, Even though these frames were vacuum-cast there will be enough differences between individual plates to preclude economically replacing the casting. This does, however, sound very much like a repair that could be accomplished by the Lock-N-Stitch method. See http://www.locknstitch.com/ >From your description of the crack-a picture would be worth quite a few words-it should be able to make this repair without removing the frame from the piano. If this cannot be done it is probably not economically feasible to repair the piano. Before doing anything else the owner should take a look at his/her warrantee. ddf Delwin D Fandrich Piano Design & Fabrication 6939 Foothill Court SW, Olympia, Washington 98512 USA Phone 360.515.0119 - Cell 360.388.6525 <mailto:del at fandrichpiano.com> del at fandrichpiano.com - <mailto:ddfandrich at gmail.com> ddfandrich at gmail.com From: pianotech-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces at ptg.org] On Behalf Of J. I've passed these suggestions along to my friend. Personally, I think the two best options are the repair angle and craigslist, though I know he has an aversion to craigslist, generally. If there are other suggestions out there, we'd appreciate your thoughts. Will, he didn't mention a problem with tuning stability and I think he would have, had such been the case. I've asked the question and will report back. I've also asked about the warranty situation. On Thu, Oct 13, 2011 at 5:23 PM, J.
