I picked up two customers in a month from a tuner who charges a good bit more than I, but neither tuned well, nor listened to the customer when he expressed specific needs about actions. Some people also seem to think that high prices make them good. _____ From: pianotech-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces at ptg.org] On Behalf Of pianolover 88 Sent: Friday, August 26, 2011 4:18 PM To: pianotech at ptg.org Subject: Re: [pianotech] New Business from telephone enquiries "Good piano tuners aren't cheap, and cheap piano tuners...." I used to kick myself when folks wouldn't ask a price, and then, (since I wasn't the most expensive) they would see the bill and say, "Is that all?" Oy! I've got 30 years experience and I'm very good at what I do." I may even at that point, if it feels like they aren't going to schedule, go ahead and recommend some of the cheaper tuners. I still end up getting most of those calls, but I do lose some. You have to be willing to lose some if you are priced on the high end. This is not my forte! These calls tend to be very short once I tell them the price. How do you handle telephone enquiries? _____ No virus found in this message.
