[pianotech] Standard Tuning Prices

I haven't but, I have held my prices stable for the past 3 years.

Here in Michigan, we have been in our own rather serious recession since
about 2001 or 2002. I think next fall though, I will likely raise my rates
again. Health insurance, gas prices and most everything else keep's rising.
We must have a continued price increase at some sort of regular intervals or
we wil lag to far behind to play catch up.

My dad's fee for tuning a piano in 1959 was $7.50. Prices, I'm sure, took a
tumble during the depression, and gradually came back up by the mid fifties.
(Has anyone reduced their tuning fee during this recession?)

Interesting comment at the end of the article. It seems that our profession
hasn't changed all that much in 80 years.

Thought you might find this enjoyable.

Here's an article I happened across from 1920.

Prices are listed on the far right. Grand's $6.00.
