Matthew,

Would you go to a doctor to ask that your appendix be removed? Or would 
you just report the symptoms and let the doctor make the diagnosis?

I think you can ignore the client's diagnosis but listen to what she is 
saying about the symptoms, and then do some investigation. Work with the 
worst key and when you can make it play better, discuss with the client 
what you propose and how much it will cost.
