Hi Jessica, I tune for a number of "event rental" pianos, and have always thought there must be a better way of removing/replacing lid, legs and lyre for longevity. Somebody on this list must have investigated this idea before now, and I'm sure we would all be interested in some ingenious answers. As to your immediate problem, moving the hinges to a newer part of the rim may be suitable in the short term. Let's know how you get on. Bruce Browning The Piano Tuner.
