Lots of times I am called to work on a piano that needs lots of upgrading. I most always tell the customer, lets see if it can be tuned first. It is a big mistake to do hundreds of dollars of work on a piano just to find it can not be tuned to pitch without braking strings or worse. I suggest tuning first and most everything else after that.
