We can tell nothing without string lengths.

If a piano is worth restringing it is worth rescaling.

List,

I am rebuilding a Mason & Hamlin Model 50, serial number 83207, built circa 1978
with a strange stringing scale. I would like to know if I should restring it as
it is marked on the plate, or as it was measured, or if it should be rescaled.
If it should be rescaled - what is the best proceedure?.

Wire size: Scale on plate: As Measured:

 13 7 unisons 7 unisons
 13.5 4 4
 14 4 4
 14.5 4 4
 15 4 4
 15.5 8 8
 16 8 8
 17 10 10
 17.5 8
 18 8
 17 3 16.5- 3

The piano has always been poor in terms of tuning stability. What do you think?
