List,
I am rebuilding a Mason & Hamlin Model 50, serial number 83207, built circa 1978 with a strange stringing scale.  I would like to know if I should restring it as it is marked on the plate, or as it was measured, or if it should be rescaled.  If it should be rescaled - what is the best proceedure?.
Wire size:    Scale on plate:                As Measured:             4                                    4

 13.5             4                                    4
 14                4                                    4
 14.5
 15                4                                    4
 15.5             8                                    8
 16                8                                    8
 17                10                                  10
 17.5                                                   8
 18                8
 17                3                            16.5- 3
The piano has always been poor in terms of tuning stability.  What do you think?
