John, If I recall the charger polarity for the SAT should be center pin negative @ 9V 300mA. Radio shack has the chargers which you fit the appropriate plug into the charger. The plugs come in many different sizes so I would take the SAT into the store and correctly fit the plug. There usually is a octopus of plugs hanging near the display to fit the correct one. But first.... A DISCLAIMER: Before I would go through the trouble of outsourcing from RS I would try to get the correct recharger from Sanderson. I wouldn't want to void a warranty or toast my expensive SAT and besides we can keep the monies circulating in the brotherhood. (If you know what I mean) We all need to support each other during these challenging economic times. IMHO Best of luck with your resolve. Gerry Cousins, RPT I use a Radio Shack 9V 300mA transformer for my older SAT . As John suggested, bring the SAT to Radio Shack to ensure you get the correct tip. Question--does the orientation of the tip into the transformer wire connection affect the polarity? I was trying to find my other adapter for charging my ol' Accutuner I. I think I found it--a spare that I got from Radio Shack some time ago. My original TAMURA states it is a Class 2 power supply, INPUT AC 120v 60hz 4w OUTPUT DC 9v 100mA The one from Radio Shack: For 15-1832 AC Adapter Model:DV-1220DC Class:2 INPUT: 120VAC 60Hz 6W OUTPUT: 12V DC 200mA So, does anyone know if the Radio Shack one is OK for the Accutuner? It's the only one I have hanging around and I can't think of anything else I would have bought it for. I don't want to plug it in and have a catastrophe. It's generally best to use the same output voltage. Otherwise, you might burn a circuit in your SAT. :-) It might indeed work, but I'd stick with what the manufacturer says to be on the safe side. In your case, you'd need a 9V (output) adapter. Radio Shack will have what you need. Take your SAT with you, and they'll set you up. Basically, it's as simple as getting the correct output voltage and plug size. Plug size is not as important, but voltage usually is. Wal-Mart would also have a generic adapter that would probably work. Both stores probably have the universal adapters with selectable voltage. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
