I think Paul's suggestion of bridle tapes on catchers might be a good one, but I tend to think, as Patrick suggested, it's something really weird that I won't be able to get to the bottom of until I pull the action--which may never happen, because one's a rental, and one belonged to some really cheap rich folks. My bet is the flange has over 10 grams of resistance. Check the jack and hammer flanges too. Repin as necessary -- you're in this deep and Protek isn't a definite fix! Oh, I've had a couple Hamiltons with a similar symptom -- turned out the plate strut was cracked & expanded outward, interfering with the back of the wippen! Good luck!
