Why avoid it -- unless it is because you're already late for the next

Pull that action and remove the wippen. My bet is the flange has over
10 grams of resistance. Check the jack and hammer flanges too. Repin
as necessary -- you're in this deep and Protek isn't a definite fix!
Oh, I've had a couple Hamiltons with a similar symptom -- turned out
the plate strut was cracked & expanded outward, interfering with the
back of the wippen!
