Worked on a 1919 Schomacker studio yesterday. On the plate, "patented electro-gold strings" was cast. You guessed it, all the strings were, no, not electro-plated I think, but painted a gold color - bass strings included. UGH! What some manufacturers do for marketing purposes, eh?
