That is not necessarily true. It is legal to import Ivory, in tusk form, =
IF it has  the proper "serial number", properly affixed.
Ownership of Mastadon Ivory and Walrus Ivory is Strictly forbidden.
Sales of used Ivory, such as olde keytops/fronts is perfectly legal.
I save all of the scrap, (i.e. broken stuff), and fill up coffee cans, =
then give/sell to luthiers, etc. They use it for inlays, etc.
