Jim, I agree with much of your commentary, except I don't believe =
people "just want to remain stupid." Today, people's lives are =
busy......really busy. Getting the piano tuned is a nuisance item but =
it has to be done, much like servicing the car or going to the dentist. =
Time is scarce for most folks, so after a few sentences about their =
instrument, their eyes glaze over and they begin thinking about the many =
other things that have to be done that day. At that point whatever you =
say goes in and back out. The best you can hope for is to read your =
customer and tailor your information to their situation. If the person =
has time, and is really interested, you can elaborate in detail. If =
not, a brief show and tell is the best you can do. =20
