This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Hi, I have been handing out brochures for over 30 years about tuning, why = they go out of tune, pitch raising, selection of pianos. Generally it = has done almost no good. You can explain something to a person for 154 = minutes and they will turn back around and say they no nothing about = what you just explained to them. People want to remain 'stupid". Two = days ago I had a first time client, Baldwin spinet. She let me in and = then promptly left to take kids to school. I asked her before she left = if she wanted the piano at A-440 and if it was drastically low it would = take more than one tanning to keep it stable. She said do it. She came = back just as I was putting the piano back together an hour later. It = was 90c low and no strings broke, hooray. I was telling her that it = should be tuned in 2 weeks and then 3 months. What, she says? Well we = cannot afford that. I knew right away that was a lost cause. Win some = lose some. List, I know many of us get frustrated at times trying to explain to = customers WHY their pianos should be serviced more frequently. I've had = a few experiences lately that have caused me to try to think of ways to = clue customers in while covering my butt at the same time. I thought of = writing a flyer to hand to customers that has a bit about reasons pianos = go out of tune, a few lines about pitch raising, weather changes, = regulation, etc., etc., etc. Not quite as detailed as the PTG = Bulletins, but broader in scope. =20 Then I thought that perhaps a collective effort from this list might = benefit us all. There is an incredible amount of brainpower, skill, and = willingness to share here in this forum. Too idealistic sounding? Any = thoughts on a cooperative effort like this? Just thought I'd toss it out there. I'll probably be working on = something along these lines that I'll share with y'all when I get enough = time.
