What piano brand and model has this feature?? There's a tool -- I think I purchased mine from Pianotek, but I believe Renner makes one too -- which reams out the excess wood. Proceed with caution -- you don't want to remove too much! You may be able to achieve your goal with a traditional balance rail hole easing tool (available from various suppliers), which would compress/burnish the offending material. Oh, and watch out if you purchased your tool from Schaff. When I ordered the "Yamaha tool" for the job, I got their knockoff which had sharp edges further up the shaft of the tool. It wasn't too bad on the wood put it shredded some bushings before I noticed!
