The large Powermatic bandsaw is, indeed, a beautiful machine. However,
unless it is a central part of a large rebuilding shop, it is probably
overkill.

Take a look at the Delta 14" machine. I've been using the same saw for
close to 30 years now and it has yet to miss a beat. It has been recently
"improved" though I've not seen the improved version. It now sells for
about $900 with deals often available. That's with a 1.5 hp motor and a
stand.
