Crowned Ribs on M&H?

The M&H folks that show up at the conventions say the ribs are crowned, 
progressively tighter in the treble. But then M&H says the tension 
resonator is a crown retention device too...

I don't understand why a simple concept like continuity is so hard to find 
in practice.
