Muffler felt problem

Cutting the felt of the moderator in small strps for each note is a very =
good idea, which has been used in the past too. I have seen it in a late =
19th or early 20th century Petrof grand.
It works very well and eliminates the annoying sound made by the =
one-piece felt moderator when it also hits strings that don't bleong to =
the note played.
You don't have to cout throuh the whole piece of felt, just on the lower =
part where the hammers strike it.
