I keep hearing this kind of comment.... and I have yet to see any really all encompasing valid criteria for what a "good scale" is.  Even inharmonicity curve ?? Even tentions ?? What degree of  this or that or the other thing. Nor have I ever heard anyone describe what priorities Steinway uses for their scaling out side of the very informative and highly objective comments like "archaic", "outdated", "lousy".

This is kind of what I trying to say to Robert. Who are WE to tell Steinway what scale they should or shouldnt use ?? That is unless we have some truly constructive advise to give ?

Now I aint saying that the Steinway scale can or can not be "improved".... I am just saying I have yet to hear the justification for such an "improvement" that holds any real amount of water. Tho I'd love to hear it if someone can put said on the table.
