softening wippen cushions

All depends of the use, but the few I've done have been holding for a
year or so. using a paper towel with a very few water is enough, so no
moisture goes in another place.

While on it, I used the method on very old key bushings, this summer,
as I accepted to put in a shape (tuning + )a very old Pleyel, and time
was not allowed for real repairs. The feeling changes immediately from
old hard noisy to more mellow and regulatable (done the chushions, the
keys, but not the hammers).

Less than 2 days job for a impressive result, considering the
untouched piano (50 years) near the sea.

I was just traveling so did not have all the shop accesories with me,
but if I where to change the bushings on that kind of instruments, the
pins have to be changed at the same time or the work is useless in a
short time.
