Yamaha damper question

Hello,

I remember John delacour telling he did not like the Renner center pin
(plated) and using Japanese one actually in preference (or another brand I
don't remember where it comes from)

Is it because of the plating quality, the size ?

Be welcome to jump in , John.

I use German standard pins (pre-cut) and long ones 'fils de centre' in
French, without any particular comment on them, nor the size is not always
precise in the long ones, and may be they can corrode with time, but the
ones we buy in France have probably been made many years ago so that can be
understood .
