Hi Dave.

I have been away and so could not get my mail. Violins
have a *spruce* top and a *maple* back. Other woods
have been used sometimes. But the top plate is always
a soft wood.

Sorry to nit pick.

Downbearing on a fiddle is about 1/2 total tension or
40 lbs.
