Just a word of caution regarding subcontracted services that involve the use of hazardous wastes. Know who you are dealing with. Plating shops generate a significant amount of hazardous waste. Some operations are very clean and dispose of wastes properly. Some are not very clean and some day will have to pay the piper. The trouble is that if the operation does not have funds to pay for a many-hundreds-of-thousands-of-dollars-cleanup, the long arms of environmental laws can, and often do, extend to those businesses that have supported the perpetrator of the environmental problem. Bottom line: It may be much less expensive to pay $400 for a plating job than $200. Know who you are dealing with.
