weber grand

Hi, Joe:

My ca. 1884 Weber 6'4" is square tailed instrument, but the S/N is clearly
printed on the open-faced pinblock between the bass and treble. This is a
rocker capstan action which is otherwise modern. You can see a fairly poor
picture of it on my website at shullpiano.com/pianos4sale/4/4.html.

Although the pinblock is exposed, the plate is a full plate, in that the
struts reach clear to a cast member at the stretcher. Other interesting
features: the soundboard grain runs 30 degrees to the belly rail, and the
ribs run front to back (parallel to the side).

<< Hi all,
Working on a Weber grand with the # 8500 on the left side of the pin block
and on the music rack. The instrument has a square nose and the action does
not have metal brackets but is entirely wood with the hammers on a woodrail
that is removable by it's self. Can anyone confirm the manufacture date of
arround 1870?
