CA glue vs. PinTite

Eliot,

I always used Garfields before I knew there was anything else. I treated my
last piano with Garfields maybe eight years ago and always had reasonable
success with it. For about 4-5 years I didn't have any to do, and now more
recently I've been trying CA glue.

A teacher at last year's national convention gave a mini-technical on using CA
as a tuning pin tightener. He said you will always have success by using four
drops per tuning pin. On the other hand, I think I overheard Brian Trout say
they used 2-3 bottles on a piano before they began to notice improvement. (I
hope I quoted you correctly, Brian.)

So I started with using small amounts and was disappointed with the results. I
used one bottle on the last piano I did. I'll be tuning it tomorrow morning, so
I'll know after that if that was sufficient. The benefit of CA over Garfields
is that you can return a vertical to its normal position right away, not leave
it on its back for several days.

Regards,
Clyde
