Hi Joe, Hi Ed,

I have a followup question for your answer, Joe, and further details for Ed's.

The main reason I did not try to splice a piece onto the 15 1/2 was (1) I didn't
think I could make it (new splice) clear of the pressure bar (2) I didn't think
of splicing both ends (3) I thought of the donor piano before I thought of
anything else. (4).......and I'm not sure of which order I thought of
it.......but I did have visions of my new splice failing during the piano
solo.........:-).

So, you would take the broken #15 1/2 and make a loop on one end for the outside
hitch pin? Is this so the hammer shank won't be stressed as much......or is
there another reason?
