John I've been using strip mutes for the past 5 years or so and like the technique because it quiets the piano down making it easier for me to hear the beats/frequencies/pitch I'm looking for. This is a big help when floor tuning for dealers who want a nice sound but can't/won't pay for the fine tuning that is done for customers.
