I cannot understand why anyone would use graphite as a lubricant. In
the hot lead printing business graphite was used as an abrasive to
remove lead from steel lineotype spacers. Graphite is an excellent
abrasive and the small plates it is composed of do slide well against
each other but if given a chance the edges are HARD and will cut into
anything less hard than semi precious stones.

I have found that the Asian frozen bushings will loosen up permanently
with a tiny spot of WD-40 in the bushings. This is not sprayed in - I
use a capstan wrench to transfer from a partially filled cap. Dip and
spot, dip and spot. I doubt it will work on graphited bushings
though. You can also use the small tube as a pipette, if you remember
you chemistry classes.

WD-40 is 1/3 light petroleum oil and 2/3 surfactants, carriers,
cleaners other junk. But it works.
