Sorry, wrong spelling.  "Poplar" is a nifty kind of wood that is
often used in lesser quality uprights, (Kimball, etc.) Keys, bed
frames, etc. were common.  It is still commonly used as core wood
for veneers.  Certainly better than particle board.
