When to do it - do it now

I posed the question of seasonal capstan adjustments to
Kenzo many years ago. He indicated there is a compromise
between quiet operation and susceptibility to vagaries of
weather. Stability on one end of the stick and instability
on the other. Rigidity and flexibility. Yamaha chose to go
for quiet operation and allow the technician to care for the
capstans.

In any process of design and fabrication there have to be
compromises made and decisions to make.
