I am not opposed to new solutions to old, or new, problems, just recklessness in applying those solutions to someone else's instrument. I cannot imagine the extensive experiences you must have had in your career, but I would guess that when a "superior" product arose to replace a formerly used one, there was considerable testing before a universal changeover. Even with full time professional engineers and R&D departments there have been Corfam butt leathers, Teflon bushings, swelling action brackets, etc. All I was trying to propose was that the local piano technician do some research on his own, or get instruction in a technique, before jumping on a new procedure. Kind of like, "First, do no harm." Sincerely, Bill Simon Phoenix
