Hi Ed, Try dipping the end in rubbing alcohol, to the depth you want to go on. I would get rid of the lead. You might find that it is white in the centre, which is a type of corrosion. It usually shows this at the ends. I have bought the reducers from PPS Co., I have also just, hot glued the appropriate size brass tubing into the holes, for the tubing. Good luck. Regards, John M.
