---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment John, Frank Hubbard's Harpsichord Regulating and Repairing which the Hubbard kits come with makes no mention of how far the becket should protrude, nor how many coils there should be. I built an instrument using the same kind of zither pins and put about 7 turns onto each with the beckets protruding far enough to keep the top coil in place, tightening the coils with a piano string lifter and driving them to set bearing afterwards. A couple of Hubbard employees have seen 'em and haven't said they were wrong, anyways. Hubbard is no longer using or supplying these zither pins, in part because they are shorter than traditional pins but mainly because of inconsistent sizing. Their new pins, with holes, are great!
