<< Later I bought the book "Piano Tuning" by J. Cree Fischer and proceeded to
study it but was not happy with the method taught (tuning by circle of fifths)
so I called a local tuner I had met at the local Yamaha dealer at the time and
paid him to come out and just tune the temperament and explain what he was
listening to. He used the John Travis method "up 2 3ds and down a 5th". Then
he de-tuned what he had done and let me try. I
heard clearly now the beat speeds and he encouraged me greatly, and from that
point on I had no trouble honing this skill. >>

By a most fortunate twist of fate, this is what most likely saved you from the
scourge of «Reverse Well». It also tells me that you could easily pass the
RPT tuning Exams. The other skills and experience you have also tell me that
you could easily pass the written and Technical portions. You could get all
of this accomplished by July 12 if you only made the decision to do so.
 Consider yourself "pre-screened".

June 11 is the deadline for early Registration (lower fees). If you join
PTG at that time, you will pay member rates and a pro-rated annual dues. Find
someone to share a room with at the Holiday Inn. You won't do anything but
fall asleep there after a very long day anyway.
