Make a pair of becket pliers. Buy small, cheap slip-joint pliers.
Grind or hack saw off about 1/2" of one tip. Grind off the serated jaws
into two concave surfaces (to conform to the sides of the tuning pin).

A very good comment which preceded the above, Carl, I just did not want to
copy it. And not to take issue with your suggestion for a tool, it is a good
one and I'm sure it works well. However, we all need to have tools which will
perform many functions and that are small so that they can be included in our
general tool kit. A medium sized pair of Vice-Grip pliers, with no
modification, has always worked for me as the best tool for the job of becket
squeezing. These pliers, of course, can perform many other functions so they
are a regular part of my general tool kit and were also part of my stringing
tools. I even found that they were more erffective than a "becket closing"
tool that I had that would have only been part of a stringing kit.
