Hi, Jim,

3/16" is too high for easy tuning.  1/8" or less is better.

After your coils are tight and leveled you can use a hammer shank taped
to the side of your pin punch.  Set it's length so that when it is
abouit to touch the plate your coils are at the desired height.

Repinning is replace the old pins with larger one withou replacing the
strings.  Restringing is replacing both.
