Dear Folks, Tuned for these gentlemen 2 1/2 years ago. Concur that they are nice gentlemen, and tuning two Concert Division Steinways nested together (tops removed; pianists facing each other across the length of the pianos) is quite a treat. They were sponsored by the local Community Concert Association, and it was a superb concert. The instruments were slightly different in voicing, to reflect the tastes of the performers (...as they said to me; One was required to be slightly mellower, and one slightly brighter. The slight difference allowed the distinct playing to be heard from each performer, and allowed the instruments to complement rather than simply duplicate each other.) They saved the heavy work on the pianos until late in the performance... and then unleashed their Khachaturian on 'em. Let's just say that the pianos (and pianists) are counting on SOLID tuning. (I tuned one piano, and then used a pair of 'spare hands' from the concert organizers to transfer the tuning to the second instrument. Used only the center 3 or 4 octaves and proceeded to tune the second instrument to itself from that point. You will enjoy the sound these two pianos create on the stage. Trust me.) I don't know how their funding looks for this year's tour, but two years ago they finished the performance, had the pianos loaded into their U-Haul truck in less than an hour, and drove away towards Texas through the night. Whooooosh! Enjoy the Opportunity! Regards, Jeffrey T. Hickey, RPT Oregon Coast Piano Services TunerJeff @ aol.com
