I hope not!  Even today every time I fire up a fresh glue pot the smell
takes me back to my childhood in the fifties working in my father's shop on
Saturdays...

You could always try putting some vanilla in the glue... it works for
removing paint odors so it might work with hide glue - and make those wafers
smell good enought to eat!  B-})
