I'd be interested in updates from techs. whose schools have gone the All Steinway route. We had this discussion a year or so ago, and bounced around the ideas of having a diverse inventory. At Boston University , where we have an inventory of 170 pianos, consisting of 105 grands and the rest uprights, we are having very preliminary discussions with Steinway. So some of my questions are, were your new acquisitions phased in over time, or was it one dramatic turnaround of inventory. Did you participate in the trade in $$$ amounts that Steinway had offered on your existing old inventory, some of those estimates are very low. Apart from the models D and B, which were selected at the factory, did your faculty select all other smaller Steinway grands at the local dealer. How has the maintenance been on these new smaller Steinway grands. Did these pianos come directly from the factory or were they prepped at all at your local Steinway dealer. How did the Boston grands or uprights feature in the mix of the total acquisition. Did you and the Administration and Faculty labor over the mix of the brands. We have been given 3 Purchase Plans, from high to low $$$ amounts featuring more or less real Steinways, and Boston and Essex. How has the initial maintenance been on these pianos. If you had to do it over, would you have changed the inventory mix. Martin Snow..Boston University School of Music -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
