[CAUT] piano moving stuff

Good points Cy. When I know the mover used the lyre to move I always try to examine it carefully and fix everything, what may or may not have been caused by them. It's a good time to do this.

Regards,
Jim

I know many movers routinely tilt on the lyre; I watched it done on an Art Case "D" at an S&S dealer. But... just because there's no immediate visible damage, isn't it probable that it's overstressing glue joints that aren't designed for side stress? Look at the fore-and-aft braces to resist a player's foot -- a lot less stress! Most lyres I see have play in them somewhere, even after snugging up the bolts.
