Yes, I know the entire "bottom lever" of the jack is referred to as the 
tender. I'm just talking about the little bump on the end - the part that 
actually engages the letoff. Ron Overs' jack design obviates the problem by 
designing the geometry so that the part of the tender engaging the letoff 
felt "rocks across" it, with zero rubbing (hence zero wear). And I think 
there is considerable wear as well as compression - true of wipp heels as 
well - since the arcs are unequal. You can "re-fluff" to an extent, but the 
felt needs to be replaced eventually.
