I agree.  It is subjective and the concept of belief is at the core here...
not any concept of "knowledge"  That being said, We have to acknowledge the
world around us don't we ?? If that world largely says, to put it tritely,
Strads sound best, or Steinways sound best, then we cant simply ignore that,
dismiss it citing sales hype, mystic, or the like...., and we certainly cannot
invoke the gods of science to discount it out of hand.

And when you put it that way... I agree. :)... My single point was (and I
admit I am a bit hyper sensitive on this mark) that we constantly and
willingly misuse these disciplins of science and math....and do so in a
particularilly religious fashion.
