Hi Avery, Getting the old bushings out is an important job. Do not try to drill them out. Often the glue is harder than the wood so the drill takes the path of least resistance and ruins a nice rail. You can do it in a drill press but often I like to just press them out, at the drill press, with a transfer punch just smaller than the hole. The can be soaked out if there are huge glue collars. I use nails 10 to 20 thou over wire size as cauls when I rebush. I insert them when the felt is in position. I have also used wooden tooth picks because they can be clipped after to trim the felt. A little protek would be nice but more important is that the wires are highly polished (and clean). It is often a nice surprise when the dampers work much better with new bushing than with the old.
