Dear lists,
Many of you may have recieved a letter from Stephen Brock, about Andrei
Svetlichny, but for those who didn't, please take a moment to read on...
With Stephen's permission, I'm posting the 'gist' of his letter. If you've
ever had the chance to work with or get help from Andrei, concert and
artist technician for Baldwin, you know that he's one of a kind, and
deserves our concern.
I've not seen this type of request on the lists before, and sincerely hope
that your time invested in reading this post is not wasted, and that if
possible, you'll respond with generous support.

	Here's the situation:
"Andrei Svetlichny has leukemia. Medication has kept his condition in
check for over two years. But, chronic myelogenous leukemia almost always
progresses to a point where intensive chemotherapy is necessary. So it has
in Andrei's case, too.
For the moment, his condition has been stabilized, but the doctors at Mt.
Sinai are adamant: survival absolutely requires Andrei undergo a matched
unrelated donor bone marrow transplant. A remarkable match has been found,
and Andrei is being rushed to undergo this critical, LIFESAVING procedure
right away.
Andrei's medical insurance only covers so much, leaving he and his family
with another $80,000.00 in medical costs.
That's why you've been approached. We're asking you to consider a
generous, tax-deductible contribution to the BLOOMFIELD BONE MARROW
TRANSPLANT FUND IN HONOR of ANDREI SVETLICHNY. Our goal is $80,000.00
raised by August 31, 1997. Whatever you can afford, no matter how modest,
will make a big difference--with our thanks. Together, we'll WIPE OUT this
debt for Andrei, his wife, Meg, and his children, Katherine(12),
Nicholas(9), and Peter(7).
A wonderfull organization, the NATIONAL TRANSPLANT ASSISTANCE FUND will
administer the funds with care, as they have for hundreds of transplant
patients since 1983.
Make checks payable to NTAF- Bloomfield Bone Marrow Transplant Fund. In
the memo portion of your check, print "In Honor of Andrei Svetlichny" Mail
to: NTAF-Bloomfield Bone Marrow Transplant Fund
P.O. Box 258, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010
more info available by calling NTAF @ 800-642-8399,
or Stephen Brock: 513-576-4648"

Well, that's kinda heavy, isn't it? How's your 'catastrophic' insurance
coverage? What about your family? Andrei's a real trooper, I didn't even
know he was sick, but he's always been available at the other end of the
phone to help out with concert piano situations. His skills and caring are
awesome.
Sometime in the next few weeks or so, you're gonna be at a regular
customer's house, and do one of those 'gravy' tunings that doesn't last
long enough, 'cause the customer cares about the piano, and it's almost
right on, and everything goes well, and the check is already made out, and
well..... you get it. Think about Andrei and his family, and give that
tuning to them. More, if you can. Every little bit helps.

Thankyou very much for your time and concern.
