I think I got the word from my Dad who was a student in 1950 of William Braid White . 
 William was English but as are many Brits fluent in other languages and exposed no doubt to German

piano textbook..."die Rast"

At least in German, "die Rast" is the whole flipp'in rim/beam structure.
