I would run some thin CA glue in first, then follow with medium gap filling, then spritz with accelerator. I've been doing it for years on similar pianos and it is holding up just fine. A quick inexpensive fix for an inexpensive piano. The problem with leaving the gap open is that there will be sound deterioration in that section.
